What I made...what they'll be making

After a few years, projects pile up in the drawer, and time catches up with you, I've knocked out a few customs and then within a month or so (and in 1 case within a few days ) Hasbro announces upcoming figures...

such as :
Bastila Shan - I copied the use of an Elsa Schneider (from Indiana Jones figure from another custom I saw on rebelscum.com (theirs was better...sigh)

Kithaba : (Barada #2) I made this one last year with repainted pants and headband and swaped out the slumpy chest for the too muscular original Fleet Trooper one, I recently gathered up parts to redo the arms and chest to better match the character...and now a proper version is coming out in June/August of 2011

Bespin Han Solo : there have been several releases of this guy, all were pretty good for the time, but with the current figures getting better articulation, I wanted a solo to have the same. Used arms and jacket from a torture Rack Solo (gruesome) and built one that was just below par of the current figures (IMO)

Some of the previous versions:

and what will be coming out in June 2011

Space 1999 - Moon Base Alpha

Thanks to folks on a MEGO Collecting Web site, I was able to get my hands on some backdrops, "space chairs" and parts to make some MEGO Customs, and with some foam core and sand from a art store...little scenes from the funky 70's show have been created...

Did you know that Martin Landau was up for the roll of Spock on Star Trek? , and that Leonard Nimoy was on Mission Impossible after Laundau left... hand to God...true story

The crew doing their thing - laughing , loving, learning

In space everything is dusty...and full f bright colors like orange

...Still more head swaps...more and more

The easiest of customs, buy two, pull off heads (either laugh or cry when you do it for sick or sad effect) switch head... plenty of guards and troopers are made this way, especially with several in scale lines all available (Thor, G I Joe, Marvel Universe, A-Team)
Add some paint or belt pouch, maybe new legs...good to go

Kneel before Chancellor Valorum...

Took some spare parts from the junk drawer, and made the villains from Superman II, (Zod, Ursa, Non) was supposed to be a surprise silly gift for a friend, but after 5 years of not completing it, it just went off to the used toy store for credit...sigh

Used a Chancellor Valorum figure from SW:TPM for Zod's head...same actor, Ursa is a Leia head, and Non is Thrawn (the 1st Expanded Universe Series), with sculpted beard

There's bits of Luke's, senate guards,Dr. Evazan,Oola and Mara Jade parts for their bodies.

Lucius... lousy stinkin' punk

Tried my hand at sculpting onto an old mego head ...not sure how long it will keep, sculpey will dry... we'll see. Used an old Cornelius doll as the base, added "hippy" hair and "fluffier" beard.Swapped out his leather chest tunic pad for a piece if brown felt...Lucius has no "ape language" on his shirt.

"I don't go in for fads. Somehow it makes you look less intelligent."

My Friends... small, plastic and funny

Every now and then I'll turn a loved one, or friend (or friend of a friend) or coworker into a we little plastic person

A co-worker who got married:
She: altered Princess Leia ceremonial outfit
He: altered Elan Sleazebaggano with a Military head

A friend's dad:

A-Team's Templeton 'Faceman' Peck with an Endor Trooper head and G.I. Joe Will Bill hat

An Administrative Assistant friend:

Marion Ravenwood from Indiana Jones and the Starkiller head from the McQuarrie Collection

Friend's fiance and their cat...

G.I. Joe Shipwreck body with Wedge (POTF pilot) head.
He's a plumber so i got a toilet seat and plunger from a doll house shop, the seat is soooo not to scale..."Look at the size of that thing!" it...large butted folk must live there

Two best friends...who got married last year"

Simpsons repaints and a Lisa Simpson head swap to a Patty or Selma body...the eyeglasses were made from a small astronaut helmet and some black sticky-foam

High Price of Collecting

125 Dollars for a Figure !!!
GET THE HELL OUTTA HERE.....

Thats the highest I've seen the short packed, hard to find Volcana - a villain from the Superman and Justice League Unlimited cartoon series. The cheapest was around 75.
Being a semi completist when it comes to my nephews JLU figures, I really wanted to fill the viod of this missing figure.
I stumbled upon a seller who had a resin head of the figure for 8 bucks.
Repainted and altered a Wonder Woman figure and BAM- a 12 dollar Volcana, I dont think my nephew will care one way or the other ... but he like having the bad guys to fight, especially the ladies.

Yeah she needs eyebrows ... but the first run of the figure was missing them too ... they burnt off while she was cooking

This same seller sent me a Captain Atom head, which I used to alter a Batman to , de-cowled Bruce Wayne.

Old Toy - sort of new again

Pulled the old 1970 Imperial Troop Transported of the wall and dusted it off. The decals have long dried up and fallen off, the sound box no longer works and the driver area was home to a dust bunny.
Grabbed the paints, some red electrical tape and a few decal images printed off the internet. Its an odd looking vehicle where the troops you're transporting are completely exposed , especially during a fire fight, ...but it is very sci-fi looking.
I tried to tweak the added details so it fits into the more realistic look of the modern line decals. For those that remember the vintage line had decals that were pretty "toy-ish" looking, using a big button look and bright play-school colors and cartoonish images on any "screens"
