Exidor ? ... Shazbot !

Took my vintage Mork from Ork and popped his head onto an extra Mego body, added some pirate boots, painted silver...

Now Mork can hang with other space explorers...  like a 1970's convention...

Up your nose with a rubber hose!

Got a hold of a vintage 9 inch Vincent 'Vinnie' Barbarino doll from "Welcome Back Kotter" and proceeded to do a head swap with a Mego doll, so now he can interact with the rest of the dolls without looking like Lurch from the Addams Family

Before

 After

Vincent 'Vinnie' Barbarino: Love means never having to hear I'm pregnant

Also grabbed a vintage Mork off eBay and will be doing the same thing

Old Customs: Published!

Many moons ago, just prior to having access to the internet , I submitted some photos of my customs ("new" ones at the time) to a magazine. I believe it was Action Figure Digest. This is a feature they no longer run... I got some press just in time.

General Dodonna - Endor Han body, Chancellor Valorum head

General Rieekan - Hoth Luke body , Jedi Anakin head

BGJ38 - 8D8 with sculpted head

Improvised Customizing

Back in 2003 I had gone through training at iO improv theater in Chicago. As part of the classes taken we would preform in a student show for eight weeks. Our team was called the "Killer Johnnies" (dont ask) and i created an action figure for our show poster

Ponda Baba legs, Nien Numb torso, Xyber Nine cape and a Thrawn head

The Trophy Wall

Picked up a cheap Vintage Tauntaun plus some Jurassic Park dinosaurs and slapped together some wall trophies for the almighty Jabba the Hutt

Yerka Mig... who?

Yerka Mig, stricken with remorse after his home planet Ralltiir was brutally occupied by the Empire, retired and fled to the Outer Rim Territories , pursued by the Imperial Security Bureau. He was a patron in Chalmun's Cantina on Mos Eisley, and was hiding from Imperial agents inside when Obi-Wan Kenobi and Luke Skywalker sought passage to Alderaan there

.... a.k.a. guy in the background !!!

The first version was a Ponda Baba with Bespin Han legs/hands , the hair from a Jack of Xyber 9 figure and the head of an Episode 1 Obi-Wan

Years later I swapped out the large chest and awkward legs with the chest of a Dark Empire Luke and legs from a Desert Storm Han Solo  ... need to work on those eyes!

My First Toy ~ Thanks Dad

Meet Banana~Man a.k.a. "Gort"
bought by my father when I was two
I blame him for my love of toys

The Mighty Chewbacca.

Star Wars: Shadows of the Empire is a 1996 video game, book, comic, soundtrack and action figure line based on a non-existent movie...sigh

one of the figures was Chewbacca in Bounty Hunter disguise...meh

I took the original figure, popped off his head and then cut/ dremeled off all the bounty hunter gear from the body . Then added it all, plus some new belt pouches to a current more movie accurate wookie figure.

Kellven ... it's not a temperature

The nerd in me sometimes goes into overdrive. Years (decades?) ago I was making my own sci-fi movies (on VHS) with a bunch of friends. The sets were made by hanging styrofoam, christmas lights and painted cardboard on the walls. The main hall of my parent's home appeared in almost everyone. Special effects was either Star Trek or Star Wars toys or lifted movie clips from Red Dwarf , Enemy Mine , Star Trek and Dune

These characters are based on a combination of two of those films (Dimension Raiders and Captain Galaxy ... dont ask) who, in "book" form, would not be hindered by the lack of money for costumes, sets and action sequences. Think Star Wars meets Wizard of Oz

Ewoks...very dangerous...you go first

After the Teek figure came out- I was inspired to try to make some of the characters form the Ewok TV movies.

From the first film : Caravan of Courage is Mace Towani - a Jurassic Park 3 figure with Han Solo torso and Dagobah Luke legs.

and from the second film : Battle For Endor is Noa Briqualon - is made from a Ponda Baba legs and Sio Bibble, eyeglasses from Dr Jones Sr.

"Stepping Softly, In a Danger Zone ...

.....No weapon in my hand, it's just this brain, designed by man, got me in trouble again, in trouble again... I put my life, in jeopardy in the service of my friends I wouldn't care, but it's a dangerous affair, I'm in trouble again, trouble again.... in trouble, in trouble, in trouble "

Made some realistic looking figures based on the Star Wars cartoon ~  Droids : The Adventures of R2-D2 and C-3PO

Spaceman Spiff and Pals

Got a set of the old vintage Eagle crew members (Koenig ,Russell, Bergman) and gave them some decals and paint apps to replicate TV accurate flight suits.

and with some G.I.Joe and 2009 Star Trek heads I made a few other Alphans.

...and a few shots to show off the attempt at TV accurate details.

Go Moonbuggy !!!

Picked up a vintage Space 1999 moonbuggy for 10 bucks, missing the two ridiculously oversized molded pilots - some paint ,foam core , some added gear & decals and BAM !!! A 3 & 3/4 inch scale moon buggy for the moon people of moon base alpha...on the moon.
